A section of West Street constitutes the Biography of Longquan. As the main artery running through the ancient Longquan, the Longquan West Street National Historical and Cultural Block is about 1.5 km long, and it has witnessed the city’s millennium. The three major sections are located in the east, middle and key areas of the block. Their renewal will have a decisive impact on the West Street and the whole Ancient City. From the perspective of both the historical context and the current urban landscape, One-tenth conceptualizes the West Street as the Biography of Longquan in the physical space. The three key locations are the prologue, climax, and new chapter of the city’s biography - from the beginning of the city’s development to the starting point of the city’s tour; from the forgotten north-south axis to the vibrant center of the street that reveals the “Longquan” city brand; from the most striking building on the waterfront of the old city to the sustenance filled with civic pride and nostalgia for home. One-tenth aims to make the ancient West Street a spatial and temporal hub where history and the future meet through the guidance of cultural themes, the implantation of landmark buildings, and the construction of diversified businesses, thus realizing the development transformation from “stock” to “new variables”.
